I Digress: Securing Our Inheritance, an Easter Reflection

“Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death.” Isaiah 53:12a, NIV

“He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never spoil or fade.” 1 Peter 1:4, NIV

On Sunday, our preacher based his sermon on Isaiah 53: 10-12. As we read that passage, this portion jumped out at me, especially in the context of Peter’s first letter which talks at length about the inheritance that is set aside for followers of Christ.

Christ gained a royal inheritance through his willing suffering and sacrifice. He did not succumb to fear or temptation, but obeyed his Father’s will. And, in doing so, he earned an eternal hope for all believers, one that can never be lost.

Wherever you find yourself, I pray that you will know the hope that Christ’s resurrection brings. A hope for an eternal inheritance.

He is risen! He is risen indeed!
